Apple Announces New Apple Reviews to Replace Yelp Ratings in Apple Maps
Apple announced tons of new products at their event yesterday. And in the middle of news about iPads, their M1 chip, and the new Apple tag, there was a critical bit of news that will have a big impact on local businesses in tthe future.
Along with iOS 14, Apple teased the idea of a new rating systems that will (at least partially) replace Yelp for local reviews and ratings. The new Apple ratings means that third party reviews like Yelp and TripAdvisor will be less prominent over time. It’s not live yet, but will likely be coming very soon to the US.
We have been working with local businesses for nearly a decade now. And one thing we have constantly heard from local businesses is their frustration with Yelp’s impact on their reputation and local results. The new Apple ratings will be a fantastic opportunity for businesses to take back some control from Yelp and improve their reviews online.
Our team is working on a strategy to help our clients take advantage of the new Apple Reviews. If you have any questions about how this might impact your business, drop us a quick note and we would be happy to talk through it with you.
